Very well-matured Irish single malt whiskey here, which has been bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company after 28 years of rest. The Boutique-y bunch is giving no hints as to which Irish distillery produced it, however. It is delicious, mind. Delicious and mysterious.
Batch 3 is a release of 956 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Rich vanilla, soft fudge and stewed orchard fruits balance beautifully as the nose opens before toasted barley, dried herbs and citrus peels add depth. There’s a flicker of winter spice present throughout.
Plenty of juicy tropical fruits initially, then marzipan, warming oak and sweet spices (cinnamon and a little nutmeg). A slight hoppiness emerges among stone fruits, quince and mulberries.
Fresh apple and kiwi, then a flourish of orange blossom.
So fantastically fruity throughout, this is one to sit with and enjoy over time.
