Talisker Dark Storm 1l

Originally released for the Travel Retail market, Talisker's Dark Storm is matured in heavily charred oak casks, imparting yet more smoke and spice to the already intensely smoky whisky. A fantastic release from the distillery on the Isle of Skye.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Smoky bacon, black pepper and red chili, dressed with a touch of orchard fruit and golden malt.

Palate Huge oak influence, with a big burst of smoke on palate entry. Beyond that, though, you find red fruit, citrus and fresh honey.

Finish A very, very long finish, peppered with honey-roasted nuts.

Reviews for Talisker Dark Storm 1l
A very fine Scotch, one of the best I've had.
This is an absolutely wonderful Scotch. I had the opportunity to taste this at a recent event and I must say this is a close second to my favorite, the Glenmorangie Signet. This is a wonderful full-bodied complex Scotch and is amazing. I look forward to traveling internationally where I can pick up a bottle or two of this wonderful Scotch.

Super
My favorite when I can get it. I like most Islay whiskeys. I find Talisker a little less Smokey than, say Laphroaig, which is to my taste. Dark Storm has an explosion of sweetness when it first hits the tongue and then disappears so the only thing you can do is have another dram.

Amazing Talisker Dram even for non whiskey enthusiasts
As a Talisker lover, I think this is one of their best, its well rounded on the palate and bursting with all the classic talisker notes with extra waves of peat and smoke, even my dad who isnt much of a whiskey drinker adores this malt.

Basically my favourite when I can get it.
Dark Storm - intense smoke and peat that flows over the tongue at the start. Followed by sweet pepper that spreads over the tongue but enhances the peat start. Subsiding slowly into peppery orange / lemon citrus with honey to finish. Not available in the US but a good excuse for a UK trip for another bottle.

Intense smokiness
On the nose it is aggressively smoky. The manufacturer says it is mostly due to heavily charred casks but to my humble opinion it is mostly peat smoke which is a distillery character. Minutes later peppery, spicy and sweet nuances can be noted. Very complex and beautiful. Some sweet caramely aromas can be nuanced as well. No age statement on the bottle which indicates it is younger than 10 year old one. This can be felt from fresh insense smokiness. On the palate now cask smokiness becomes very dominant, again very smoky and sweet, peppery and spicy. Superbly complex, finish is very long with nutty, peppery nuences.

Very Nice
An interesting smokey whiskey, I really like it.. I've never seen this before but found it an the "duty free" on the channel tunnel, the price was attractive and the description tempting.. So glad I bought it..

A wonderful, flavorful sipping malt - with just the merest touch of spring water.
Amazing. If you like the smokey, peaty flavors of the island malts, this one is not to be missed.

Good... not fantastic but good... you get the idea.
Spicy Smoky... long after taste... It lingers through your senses.. nice drink after dinner... If smoky is your thing, try this... but should have been a bit more smoother keeping in mind the price range.

Good value for money (Put this review on the storm by mistake)

With lots of peppers and smoke this one brings good value for money. Not as smoky as whiskys from Islay south coast, but more than the 10 yo Talisker. I still prefer the 10 yo but this one is very good too.
