That Boutique-y Whisky Company
Scotland
Single Malt
Who doesn't love a good indie bottling of single malt Scotch whisky from Campbeltown distillery, Springbank? This characteristically delicious and distinctive edition was bottled after 22 years of maturation. The label features Neil Ridley and Joel Harrison off of World's Best Spirits (previously off of Caskstrength.net) working the old Porteus Mill at Springbank. It's hard work, but at least they have good company and a gramophone for entertainment.
Batch 16 is a release of 987 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Light smoke, ginger in syrup and wood spices then sweetness from thick and unctuous dates and burnt brown sugar. Dark red fruit, marmalade and salted dark chocolate develop, with treacle toffee, game meat and oily walnut. Dusty apples and then a huge lick of liquorice emerge. The nose is quite like an aged Pinot Noir.
Roast chestnuts, mince pie fruitiness and hickory, then dark berries, cigar box and softly smouldering peat. Tart citrus, cracked black pepper and a hint of cough syrup are present as well, with a touch of malt loaf, dried mushrooms and bitter dark chocolate.
Oak char, dried fruit and a little oak char linger in a full-bodied finish.
Properly Springbank. Properly delicious.
Springbank on oak overdrive! Brown sugar, wet moorlands, dried venison and dried fruits. Fresh mint, fresh fruits and the fresh prince of bog air. Crazy whisky and crazy delicious.
Great!
