Amaethon has created a French single malt made with French barley and matured in barrels made from French oak. It's French from start to finish, and bottled at 45% ABV. Lovely stuff.
Rich malt, acacia honey, dried fruit, gingerbread, and banana.
Oak spice, quince, caramel, apricot, and buttery pastry.
Candied ginger and vanilla buttercream.
If I didn't know any better, I would have thought I was having an Irish whiskey like Kinahans or Writers Tears. Young and gold in colour, very sweet and generous ABV. Baked bread and fruit on the nose. Nice and mellow body despite ABV. What really made it stand out is the finish. I can decide whether I was getting lingering Rocky Road or some liquor-filled dark chocolate.
