Sheep Dip

Sorry about this...

We can't actually ship Sheep Dip to you in United States at the moment. We're working on a solution, but until then, here are some alternatives:

Sheep Dip Bottling Note

A great whisky made from 16 malt whiskies aged from 8 to 21 years. Jim Murray describes Sheep Dip as "young and sprightly". Great retro packaging too. The only thing is, the picture of the sheep on the bottle doesn't actually look like a sheep, it actually looks like an angry spaniel with horns.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Fragrant with notes of the coast, tangy, malty, honey, toffee. Youthful.

Palate: Rich, warming, malty, young and spirity.

Finish: Punchy, tangy.

Sheep Dip Reviews

Once. Very nice.

Very soft and smooth. A great surprise. Just drove from Utah to Wyoming to buy it and they didn't have it. I'm ready to place an order.

Worth it.

Not an amazingly unique taste since it is a blend, but very smooth, nice flavor. Would definitly treat myself to a couple bottles if avalable locally.

A wonderful Scottish whisky.

I bought two small bottles of Sheep Dip in Scotland as a novelty to bring back to the U.S. just before I departed. I'm a beer drinker, but being of Scottish heritage, I found this name appealing. The bottle is from 1984, and so it's almost 35 yrs. old. I keep it as a souvenir of my one and only trip to Scotland, but plan to drink it as soon as I am told I only have a few months to live. I don't know anything about the character of Scotch whisky to differentiate one good one from a bad one. My great grandfather who came from Scotland to the US around the turn of the last century was a 'teetotaler' so I get no help from him. Scotland Forever!

Down the sink

I hated it. I gave it several goes but always found it too dry and bitter (oaky) for my taste. the first and only bottle I had to pour down the sink so far...

I know sheep dip and this is sheep dip

As a single malt scotch lover the name of the product is an accurate assessment.

Fricken outstanding!!! By far my favourite scotch!

8th March 2018

Carafe it !

Like many red wines, the sellers told me it is important to let it breathe a while before. In fact, I decided to "carafe" it couple of hours. It's a very good blended for such a sheep price !

Charlemagne's Honet

Stopped in for a bite to eat and nip.
Tried the Sheep Dip... This squirmish whiskey really toggles the nostrils with sweet notes of harem and ganache. Hindu and Privette...delight the senses. Leaves a lingering je ne sais quoi ... with a slight hint of Charlemagne's honey ... don't leave Portland without trying this nectar of the gods.

Loved the name & taste when I bought my first bottle.

Prof Dr Peter Roberts

The whisky is really good. A great nose and smooth taste. It makes a pleasant change from the strong roughness of the smoky Islay malts.
However, I noticed with some real surprise that you have a spelling error on the presentation box in which it was sold. There is really no excuse for spelling 'shearing' as 'sheering'. There is no alternative spelling of this word as far as I am concerned, or the Oxford English Dictionary. Please correct this on the next box run - and ask for your money back from your box printer.

Regards and thanks for a great whisky.

Prof Dr Peter Roberts.

Very nice. It is remarkably very similar to JW green label but a lot cheaper. Great find.

martin henderson Bolton

beautiful smooth taste slips down like warm silk

11th September 2016

Quite a surprise. I noticed the unusual name and had to give it a go (for my Irish friend from the UK). I found it quit pleasant and more complex than I was expecting. It is very smooth and has a slight banana essence to the nose with a pleasant smokey follow through that lingers. I like it.

Down the hatch

Two bottles down. Love this whiskey.

14th June 2016

I was very pleased with this whisky, especially for the price; smooth and surprisingly complex. Maybe some more sophisticated tasters disagree, but I can't find anything to not like.

15th January 2016

Fantastic value

Alcoholic here. But I'm functioning enough to keep a solid job that makes me enough money to buy mid-range booze. Many of you can relate--I know it... So this is where Sheep Dip comes into the picture. I'm sipping it now (hence the ridiculousness of my wording) and it's VERY tasty (at least to this 35 year old palette). And if you're like me, and roll your eyes at the pretentiousness of many of these reviews, you'll like it. Smokey and smooth and like licking a campfire.

21st November 2015

Banana aroma, smokey taste

The aroma is dominated by banana unless you get a deep nose, then the smokiness come to the front. The taste is actually a bit too smokey for me, but the buzz is top notch.

brought this for a friend. had to try it and it's great. ended up having to buy a bottle for him as this did not last long. headache the following morning

27th June 2015

Old sample bottle.

My son in law had a sample bottle from his parents liquor cabinet clean out. It could be 25 years old! I have not been a fan of blends.. until now. It was a truly delightful experience on ice. I'm going out to buy a bottle today!

1st February 2015

Made with real sheep?

The bottle claims this is a blend of 16 single malt scotches. I have a rather vast collection of single malts, and the only way to achieve a taste this bad from fine single malts... is to actually dip a sheep in the blend. Question... do they also sell a remedy to get the terrible after taste from my mouth?

22nd January 2015

Easily the worst

It tasted like straight alcohol totally unbalanced and raw. One would have to best desperate to drink to imbibe a second session; Like a fool who walks through the waif of a friend's annouced flatulence just to attest, I swilled this s@!t whisky, again. Yeah, as terrible this try, too. I will never buy this rot gut whisky, again. What a waste of money/time.

22nd December 2014

Nicely different

A very nice blend with a difference - full fruity nose and interesting complex taste. First couple of tastes were lovely, but when I added ice it opened up some very strange flavours at first. I got cold black tea at one point, which was quite disappointing and took me half a bottle to shake. Happy to report that my fixation with this taste, and the taste itself, eventually passed. Once you taste something in a whisky it's hard to shake, but it did go. Don't be put off at all - this is very nice stuff indeed.

Mr . Barlow

wonderful aroma, taste and a beautifull feeling when you drink it . But what you don't do is kill it with adding anything to it just have it neat ...

23rd November 2014

Interesting Dram

color: amber nose: spice & fruit, a very gentle smokiness palate: fairly complex, some fruit, floral notes, spice and smoke finish. medium length, spice & fruit dominate on the finish

Overall, this is an interesting and somewhat complex dram. If you like highland malts, you will like this one.

14th September 2014

Sheep Dip

Perfume & floral, nice after shave maybe~tried it on a clean palate, just not anything to get all excited about.

30th August 2014

Sheep Dip

Buying another 6 bottles after trying it...Its smooth

25th August 2014

more than young and sprightly IMHO

this vatted malt is deep and complex. with freshness, fruit, vanilla, baking spices, a nice sherry blanket an a very faint whiff of peat smoke. Price performer and any occasion drinker. embodies the goal of a good blend: balanced and competently easy to drink.

8th August 2014

I won a bottle in a "nearest the pin" on a round of golf once. It was probably the smoothest whiskey i've ever had.

30th June 2014

sheep dip whiskey

Love it had it in the old monkey Manchester defo buying a bottle Brian from Haydock

26th May 2014

one of the smoothest whisky's I've ever tried. taking a bottle over to my friend, John's, this afternoon as a gift. I turned him onto this a year ago, and he fell in love with it, Scotsman that he is.

21st March 2014

Sheep Dip

blended and smooth. I shall order again

3rd February 2014

Tasted scotch 30 years ago and hated it. Tried Sheep Dip and LOVE IT. Bought a bottle and when it's gone, i'll buy another.

10th December 2013

Sweet, fruity and pleasant.

For a vatted malt you would expect a little more complexity, and the obvious over use of coloring is a turn off, but it is definitely tasty.

6th November 2013

Surprising and enjoyable

I received a bottle of Sheep Dip as a birthday gift. Never one to turn a blind eye to an unknown, I gave it a try tonight.

Dang - not bad. Far smoother than I expected, decent flavor. A bit on the light side, my first thought was, "where's the body?"

Regardless, an easy sip. Something to consider for a generic house Scotch. Sent

2nd September 2013

It great

The reviewer wrote --> Jim Murray describes Sheep Dip as "young and sprightly".
Obviously he's hung up on the fact that it's a malted scotch and not a sacret single malt, typical single malt snob.
Anyway, nothing could be farther from the truth, it does NOT taste "young" not in the least.
It's a great scotch better than most single malts twice the price, these reviewrs are bimbos (at best)

14th June 2013

A fresh, innovative vatted malt.

An absolutely classic example of why young vatted malts are things of beauty. Sheep Dip is quite unlike anything I've ever tasted before, it's surprising and exciting, a fresh, sprightly, grassy young-tasting whisky. I'd recommend it to anyone, from the whisky novice to the connoisseur.

6th April 2013

great taste, very smooth, will definatly buy again

29th December 2012

Tasty and Engaging

This is not a five-star whisky, but in terms of value-for-money it is certainly one of the best ones out there. Wonderfully integrated flavours of honey, toffee and chocolate shavings, with hints of good quality sherry and subtle whispers of smoke and peat. Beautifully rounded and pleasant. Bit of heat in it, that's true, but it's certainly not off-putting. I'm still kicking myself for not picking up a bottle of Old Hebridean.

5th November 2012

Christmas planner

Tasted this at the Spirit of Christmas fair in London, really lovely, and I think the label does look reasonably sheep-like :) However, would someone be kind enough to explain what the heck 'gristy' means. Have just asked a food taster, they couldn't explain...its on practically every whisky review on this website, but the internet is devoid of a definition. thanks!!

1st November 2012

Forgot to rate it.....

23rd October 2011

Just tried at the 'Durham Food Festival' , one of the best whiskies I've tasted. Wish I had time to try others but was bit busy doing cookIng demos!!!!

23rd October 2011

Empty bottle

Sheep dip is smooth plenty of flavor but not too much to overpower each other. Only not giving ten as i have not tasted all others to compare. More of an island taste than Speyside but definitely on its own
