Single Malt
A single cask bottling of some rather interesting single malt from the Loch Lomond distillery - this is their heavily peated single malt, which is presented under the Croftengea name! This particular release features whisky matured in a bourbon cask from March 2007 to 2017, before being bottled for the Spirit & Cask Range with an outturn of 300 bottles.
Toasted oak and wet grass. Robust malt and a touch of sea salt.
Caramel, burnt sugar, peat smoke and another grassy note or two.
Earthy and quite rich with smoke.
After just opened the bottle: extremely nutty and medium peated. I can't really verbalize the complexity. Not the cheapest but still very impressive for the price. After having two different drams (madeira wood finish and 15yo) from this distillery previously, Loch Lomond is becoming my hidden gem of all distilleries.
