This Knockdhu single malt joins the limited-edition Single Cask series from Wormtub Whisky, celebrating the handful of Scotch distillers that still use the old-school, and rather brilliant bit of kit that is the worm tub condenser. This whisky spent 10 years maturing in a single Pedro Ximénez sherry hogshead, yielding a total of 324 cask-strength bottles.
Worm tubs are prized for the distinctive, heavy, robust flavour profiles they can achieve, and this single malt showcases that superbly with layers of toffee, overripe fruit, warming spice, and hints of honey roast ham.
Oily and robust, with deep, earthy malt, candied citrus and plum. Butter biscuits join floral notes of hay, hazelnut cream, fruity chocolate truffles, buttered malt loaf, and tangy notes of ripe, fermented fruit.
Icing sugar sweetness and bold, peppery spice unite for a slick, warming welcome. Waves of toffee, overripe orchard fruit, and oily malt join notes of Weetabix, marmalade, and vibrant, tangy spice.
Chocolate caramels, burnt custard, apricot, root ginger, pink peppercorn, and hints of honey roast ham. Robust and oily all the way, with sweet, tangy fruit and bold, hearty spice throughout.
