The replacement premium blend for Johnnie Walker's popular Gold Label 18. It's structured around single malt whisky from Clynelish.
Nose: Honey and heather with thick caramel notes and a subtle nutmeg spice. Dried meadow flowers and a hint of fresh banana.
Palate: Smooth and succulent with a honeyed sweetness that's typical of Johnnie Walker. There's more to this though, the floral elements are quite prominent and there's a spiced sweet vanilla note too.
Finish: Long, sweet and toffee-like.
Overall: A typically easy drinking blend from Johnnie Walker, this will not disappoint fans of the style.

No way. Not at this price point. The same as Ballatines Finest except I'd rather have two bottles of Ballantines Finest. Total cynical JW rip off and I don't work for Ballantines, just know my whisky. This is a total swindle. Shame on Diageo.

Nice caramel nose. A smooth and rich taste which gives a lovely finish. Not the best but very nice to chill and relax with

Unfortunately it seems the Gold Label has had to cut a few corners in production. Harsh taste and guaranteed a headache after a big glass!!

Im not a whiskey snob but I've been around the block. I'd put me at a 4 out of 10 on the scotch snobbery scale... That being said, this Gold Reserve tastes like a $15 Speyside I had a few years ago. Earily similar; so much so that it popped into my mind like I drank it yesterday. I think it is a bit harsh for being closer to the top of the JW offerings. I much prefer JW Black. It's fuller, richer and not as rough up front. I'd like to get my hands on a bottle of the Gold 18 and see the difference. Regardless, it's definately drinkable and it won't go to waste. I'm just confused why I feel myself yearning for the Black Label when this bottle was much more expensive. Cheers,I'm off to drink me some more.

I highly recommend this drink if you truly enjoy to drink yur JW either straight or on the rocks

It is good to drink

The whole JW range is going down. Green is gone, so is the Gold 18. This has no complexity, overly sweet, with an unpleasant after taste. I haven't had the Blue Label in a while, I used to like it, Platinum is still good, but at much higher price. Come to think of it, many brands seem to be victims of their own success. Perhaps too much demand, so I am buying scotch far less often than a few years ago.

Had my first Gold 18, 7 years ago. Became my favorite instantly. Was sad when they discontinued it, but just gave the Gold Reserve my first try this week. I had one glass, cried, and gave the bottle to my brother in law who will drink anything.BRING BACK GOLD 18!!!

Spend the extra 15 and get the real thing, this is no replacement for the proper Gold Label (https://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskies/johnnie-walker-gold-label-18-year-old-whisky/?srh=1)This completely lacks the wonderful smoothness of Gold, is not sweet despite supposedly having toffee/honey /caramel attributes, and the taste is lacking any real depth. As a massive fan of Johnnie Walker this is a real let down - usually I buy every Johnnie Walker I try, or that I can find and afford (if you can afford it, Blue is simply out of this world) - but after trying this I'll only be buying them once tasted, as I wouldn't want to be stuck with a bottle of this. The now discontinued Green Label was better than this, and was the same price (now its lucky to find a bottle under £100), and Double Black has way more to it for less money (ok, its not smooth, but then its not meant to be).

A fantastic product from the Johnnie Walker range . A must for your collection .

Bought a Liter bottle (totally gold bottle) in Mumbai, India Duty Free. It is fantastic. Drink it on the rocks after letting it rest for 10 minutes or so and enjoy. I think it is just as good as Blue.

I'm not all that impressed with this offering. I much prefer Black Label. This has too much alcohol on the palate and lacks the rich flavor of JW Black.

To all of these imbeciles saying "If you like this, you know nothing about whisky"... Taste is an INCREDIBLY subjective thing. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean that it is somehow bad and none else is allowed to enjoy it. Your arrogance is amazing... Sure, I don't think this is the best whisky I've ever had (far from it) but that's because it simply isn't to my taste. It doesn't mean it's terrible and my old boss (the biggest whisky fiend I have ever met) loves this stuff. I challenge you to sip this alongside an ice cold Heineken in the sun and tell me it's not nice... It pairs incredibly well with certain lagers and that's not a bad thing at all. Not everyone wants to drink their whisky in an oak panelled speakeasy, boring everyone with their tales of when they visited this or that distillery. I don't really get a "honey" taste - it's more of a caramel/ginger taste for me but that's my point... Everyone is different. Thankfully.

By far my favourite whisky in my collection, smooth, creamy with a honey like taste.I'll be interested to compare with the Platinum and Blue, but streets ahead of the Red and Black for the extra money.
3rd April 2015
just tried the Gold Reserve at the Airport Lounge - somehow disappointingVery smooth, Little complexityWould not Buy it
8th February 2015
This is a very smooth drink. My opinion is that this is Great! but i would rather try an un-chillfiltered whisky i havent tried or 2 bottles of the Black label for the price!
5th January 2015
My personal favourite (i prefer it over blue)... have with ice, take your time, let the ice melt and just enjoy the smooth flavors...
2nd January 2015
Johnnie Walker no longer makes good scotch. It's mediocre. And for the price there are much better products available. Anyone who gives this stuff more than 3 stars really hasn't been around the block with scotch. So my review is for anyone that likes good scotch and once liked Johnnie Walker, because once upon a time they made good scotch. No longer. now they just make good advertisements, copy writing and marketing. The Gold is sweet, fruity, and biting with alcohol, it's a bit harsh. All the flavor notes are mediocre that fail to fully develop or deliver any intensity. It has a watery body and mouth feel. Save your money and buy something else.

I really enjoyed it very very well........... for too long........ really something to enjoy moments forever n ever.........

Smokier Diageo malts are nicely balanced by fruity and waxy whiskies. Overall, quite nice.
11th April 2014
i didnt know that whiskey taste that good like the platinum .
9th April 2014
Boom...Buy it... Enjoy it... Relish it...This is an exceptional product for the price. Heck, this is an exceptional product, period!
16th March 2014
To be fair my review is based on the older 18 year--not this new blend but my opinion about adding water stands-- to be quite frank I never add water to any Scotch including cast strength regardless of what many of the so called experts do-- if you do stick to the 40 %%%-- or drink a diet coke instead-- why dilute any intended profile-- patchman56 the non-expert
14th February 2014
I don't think you add any water--- this is their best blend--I have had several of them in my collection including King George--- to add any water to any 40 percent-- blend or not is ridiculous
I never get tired of this one. Great scotch. Great price.
1st February 2014
Smooth clean smoky flavor. Nice.

The amazing taste of HW Gold is so much smoother than anything I've ever tasted. I can't wait for another bottle. Cheers
13th November 2013
Similar in some ways to blue, definitely better than blue price wise and not far behind on quality.
31st October 2013
So much nicer than Black Label and I agree there's no need really to spend £140 on Blue Label. This is extremely drinkable and very smooth. My new favourite.
16th October 2013
I prefer this over the blue even not considering the price. Many more distinguishable layers than the JW platinum I have, creamy body with smooth spice, honey and a faint nose of banana and smoke. Better than some of the more expensive blends I've had.
8th October 2013
Much much better than Black Label and no need to spend £140 on a bottle of Blue Label. This is wonderful scotch - drink it with just an ever so tiny touch of water....beautiful.
5th October 2013
The old gold label was much better. This one called "reserve" is not the same thing. Price/performance is ok.
2nd October 2013
Great flavour....good to freeze for an hour or so...will not dissapoint..very simular standard to Platinum...just platinum has a touch more smoke..
13th April 2013
I'm more of a single malt lover but this is some fiiiine whisky. Amazingly smooth and probably the best blended you can buy for a hundred dollars.
6th February 2013
This is what Blue Label should be, flavor-wise and price-wise.
29th November 2012
Amazing blended whisky, exceptional taste. I have not tasted anything better. Thanks to to my sister, who give me the opportunity to experience this fine blend.
