High Coast #2 Sandö Bottling Note

The second release in the Silent Mills Collection from High Coast distillery in Sweden has been given the sherry cask treatment. Silent Mills – #2 Sandö is a nod to the long-closed sawmills that lined the banks of the icy river Ångermanälven, which was used to transport logs downriver, and which now supplies the cooling water for High Coast's distillations. This peated single malt whisky combines first-fill bourbon cask, and oloroso sherry hogshead aged whisky, for a flavourful dram with plenty of sweetness and smoke. Bottled at 51% ABV, and with a robust phenol content of 45 PPM.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Mouth-watering barbeque smoke, with creamy vanilla and barley sugar, plenty of sherry character with dried raisins and cocoa nibs.

Palate: Rich smoke, with sticky malt loaf, dried prunes and apples, and gentle spice.

Finish: The peat lingers, backed by sherry soaked fruits, and crisp apple.
