Glenburgie, of course, is one of the key components of Ballantine's blended whiskies. You probably knew that. What you may not know is that it is also the resting place of real life actual giant's helmet. Apparently he left it there after stopping by for a couple of little wooden cups of delicious single malt whiskies (or 'casks' as the terrified distillery workers called them) to wash down his strawberry jam sandwich. This release has been bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company.
"fabulous salivating delivery where the malt is juicy and pitch-perfect"- Jim Murray (90.5 Points)
Batch 1 is a release of 183 numbered bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains, blended malts, blends and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic-novel-style labels.
Segments of satsuma, peanut butter and banana milkshake. So, lots of great individual things, but this is a well integrated nose too.
Strawberry jam, orange juice, perhaps a little chocolate orange.
Soft and satisfying with touches of orange jelly, nutmeg and even the bread for that sandwich.
This integral cog of the Ballantine's blends is a wonderful malt that we don't see often enough, certainly on this evidence.
