Glenallachie 10 Year Old – Batch 7 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
Another chart-topper from That Boutique-y Disc Jockey Company... Another splendid single malt from That Boutique-y Whisky Company! Distilled at Glenallachie, this release joins the Boutique-y Records series, and is the seventh batch of Glenallachie whisky to be bottled up by the Boutique-y gang. Just like the sixth batch, this one has been aged for a decade, but the two were treated to finishing periods in very different casks... Whilst Batch 6 spent its time in bourbon casks, Batch 7 has been treated to time in a Pedro Ximénez cask. As you can imagine, the outcomes are pretty different, like when two DJs who specialise in different genres of music take an existing song and rearrange it in their own style – which is what they call a "remix" in the ol' music biz, we'll have you know.
Batch 7 is a release of 257 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Heaps of dark fruits – that DJ Pedro X certainly knows how to lay a good bassline. Sherried dates, dark cherries, and raisins, followed by rich, creamy cocoa.
Palate
Chocolate coated nuts and more juicy raisins open the way with rich layers of silky oak and peppery malt. The heat begins to build, balanced by sweeter, cakey spice
Finish
Malty Oreo biscuits, more dense fruit, and a bold peppery heat linger.
