Glen Moray 28 Year Old – Batch 5 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company) (37.5cl)
A 37.5cl bottle of glorious Glen Moray single malt here, released by That Boutique-y Whisky Company! Matured for a generous 28 years, it's lucky really that the whisky is here today for us all to enjoy. You see, back in 2002, the banks of the nearby River Lossie burst, and the floodwaters nearly swept away some of Glen Moray's casks! Fortunately, the team was able to save them though, like a giant game of Hook-a-duck, if you believe the depiction on the label. This 37.5ml bottle is an ace way to try an older and rarer whisky that might usually seem a little out of reach.
Batch 5 is a release of 227 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Flaky pastel de nata with sweet vanilla, red berries, and flaked coconut.
Palate
Spicy warmth builds with crackles of pepper and cinnamon. The summer berry sweetness is joined by hints of apricot, softening fiery ginger heat.
Finish
The spice continues with more ginger, chilli flakes, and tannic, leathery oak before that buttery pastry and earthen vanilla reappear at the end.
