Gelston’s owner, Johnny Neill, happens to have a cousin, Sam Neill – yes, actor Sam Neill – who owns a vineyard in New Zealand. So this limited edition Gelston's is a family affair, bringing together the single pot still whiskey with casks from the winery! After 19 months in bourbon casks, the whiskey spent a further 21 months French oak casks from said winery, which previously held Pinot Noir. Some might call it fate. Some might say that life, uh, finds a way...
Oily malt and banana ice cream, with summer berries and hints of wood spice.
Red fruit sweetness and touches of dry red grape skin, with jammy berries and building baking spices.
Homemade blackcurrant jam lingers alongside vanilla sweetness.
Delicious whiskey, very nicely balanced flavours. Really good for the price. But...I'm too much of a Nerd to let this one go....the "life, uh, finds a way..." line was Dr Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), not Dr Alan Grant (Sam Neill). Sorry, it was bugging me
Nice and smooth
This is an exquisite whisky, really good nose and palette with a smooth taste.. I can't recommend this enough.. awsome whisky for the price... got in my advent calender and will be buying a bottle
