The Singleton of Dufftown's first appearance in Diageo's annual Special Releases, this mighty-fine herbaceous 28 year old is a welcome addition. Ordinarily, the contents of the reill American Oak casks used may have found their way into one of the fancier Johnnie Walker blends, but we're glad to see it (and taste it) as a natural cask strength single malt. Yum!
Wax, creamy fruit with crème brûlée, moving into soft cheese territory with a touch of herb, runny honey then surfaces. Quite fresh.
Wallop, herbaceous with raspberry bushes, touch of rocket.
Big menthol notes and just a hint of mustiness.
A wonderful fruity, herbal dram from this Speyside distillery that's aged well.
