Caol Ila 8 Year Old - Wee Brother (Na Bràithrean)
The Na Bràithrean independent bottling range is rather marvellous indeed, as it shows off the influence that casks have on the flavour profile of whisky. The team does this by selecting a single cask and splitting the whisky into to halves, which go into different types of casks for different lengths of time. The first one bottled is the Big Brother, while the second is the Wee Brother - which is what we have here! It's an 8 year old Caol Ila single malt, matured in a refill bourbon hogshead and bottled at cask strength, with an outturn of 103 bottles. You can take a look at the Big Brother edition here, too!
