Bushmills Black Bush Bottling Note

If you've been in a bar (any bar, really), you've more than likely seen a bottle of this on the shelf. One of the most well-known Irish blends, Bushmills Black Bush features a lot of sherried malt in its recipe, alongside classically caramel-y grain whiskey. Suitable for enjoying neat, but it can also be used in whiskey cocktails that call for dark fruit sweetness...

Quality, but doesn't have the taste or strength to be a sipper and too good to be a mixer.

Lovely
Cheap, easy-drinking, good midweek drop. Earlier in the year I visited the distillery - the recommendation was to have a glass of this in one hand and a Guinness in the other. Trust me...

Cheap, easy to drink and worth buying
I wont sit here and claim to be a whiskey pro, I can't afford expensive 12 years..... But I have sampled bourbons, scotch and Irish!!! And Irish is my favourite, I have enjoyed green spot, redbreast, teeling and so on. This black Bush is a very nice budget whiskey, I find it better than standard jameson and better than original bushmills. For me it's on par with slane, it has a rich sherry note with a bitterness...... Smooth without much burn. It leaves a slight smokey after taste, now for all the whiskey snobs this won't do it for you but if like me you just want an every day sipping whiskey this will do the job. Enjoy guys

Good value; pleasant blend.
Not every day can be an integrity single malt one, so when you're looking for an easy going, smooth and sherried dram the Black Bush will not disappoint. First neck pour left me wondering if it had anymore to offer, but a few drams in (and some resting time in between the daily sampling), I am able to confirm that the whiskey has opened up. The high malt mash-bill presents an acceptable level of quality especially if you're used to a Speyside whisky. Don't expect much on the nose. Do however indulge in the smooth arrival and development; it's perhaps too easy to sip your way through.....be warned. The BB in 1 ltr can be had for little money and when you stack it up against other blends, you appreciate what good value it is.

Can't Believe this is $30!
This is a really great whiskey for $30! Smooth and great flavor. The first few sips had a bit of an odd finish, but that dissipated pretty quickly. Tastes like a good blended scotch which would typically cost twice as much. Definitely going to make sure I always have this on hand as it's a great (and inexpensive) option for every day drinking.

I'm not normally a big fan of Irish whiskey, I prefer Scotch single malt, which, from an Irish man is probably sacrilege but this would be as close to a Scotch as you will get. Smooth on the palate and a perfect finish, no harsh aftertaste with a perfect burn left on the tongue, albeit with a couple of small ice cubes added. Probably all that sherried malt or something. I'm certainly not an expert, but it is by far my favourite Irish, closely followed by Copeland Merchants Quay and Slane all of which are blends and all of which are aged, at some point, in sherry(Oloroso) casks. If you haven't tried any of the above, give them a go, you'll hopefully not be disappointed.
