    Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2011

The 2011 vintage Bruichladdich Islay Barley single malt was made using Publican and Oxbridge barley varieties grown by six farms around the Hebridean island. As ever, Bruchladdich has also given us an in-depth look at the casks used for this whisky - 75% was aged in first-fill American whiskey casks, 15% was aged in second and third-fill Sauternes and Austrian sweet wine casks, and 10% was aged in first-fill Rivesaltes wine casks. The whisky was then married together for six months before bottling.

    Another Belter

Bruichladdich come up trumps again, they don't all have to be award winners but yet another eminently drinkable offering. Bags of flavour without anything being really dominant so it will (should) appeal to everyone who likes a dram. Not the full five stars as it faces a lot of equally good whisky in the price range but would certainly not baulk at another bottle.

    A Mature Youngster w/o Peat

I am astounded that there are only TWO reviews so far for this angelic dram! One of them is waaaay off from actual taste. 7th December even though they gave it 5 stars. Perfect words from the first “well-balanced” indeed. On the nose honey and green Apple immediately. First sip, peach and apricot with a little char barrel flavor. On the way down hearing angels sing buttery light with a touch of dark chocolate. And remember Please DO NOT add water or ice. Only a drop or two.

    Greetings from Tallinn Whisky Club

This is a well-balanced, powerful whisky with spectacular character for tough guys - and for the ladies, too! As one of our members asked after blind tasting: How much better can the best whisky be?

    Another winner from Bruichladdich

I get a hint of peat or iodine surrounded by citrus peel and salted caramel chocolate on the nose. And yes maybe roasted almonds, cloves, chocolate and treacle toffee on the palate. I imagine this would go well alongside a carrot cake or a sticky toffee pudding.
