Blair Athol 8 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
A brilliant Blair Athol single malt here, brought to us by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. The whisky spent eight years maturing in a single hogshead before being bottled at a big, bold 57.5% ABV as part of the End of the World series. Sticking to the theme, the usually lush foliage and bell-shaped topiary pictured on the label of these Boutique-y Blair Athol releases has been struck with a deadly case of box blight, leaving it with bare patches and brown leaves all over. Disastrous!
Batch 15 is a release of 335 bottles.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends, all adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels. The brand won Spirits Bottler of the Year at the 2023 Spirits Business Awards, and Blender of the Year went to Sam Simmons, captain of the Boutique-y clan who oversees every one of these releases.

Nose
Crisp, sweet malt, and juicy orchard fruits, drizzled with honey are supported by elegant oak char.
Palate
Biscuity malt joins vibrant notes of citrus zest and delicate grassy herbs, with toasted oak bringing hints of vanilla pod.
Finish
Oaken vanilla lingers alongside a warming touch of ginger.
