BenRiach 25yo Authenticus

A fabulous 25 year old BenRiach and peated too, which is unusual for a Speyside malt. This is the next step up after the lovely 21 year old Authenticus, offering up more complexity and power as well as oodles of smoke.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Tropical and fruit-filled with notes of tangy peat, pineapple, verbena, oily smoke and malt.

Palate Very fruity and rich, with an explosion of peat smoke and dried herbs, a hint of fresh Provence Basil, a little pepper, cedar wood, honey and blossom.

Finish Good length; fruity and rounded.

Reviews for BenRiach 25 Year Old Authenticus Peated
Hunted this one down
I've been looking for this whisky for some years now. Finally hunted one down and oh boy what a treat. Speyside peated whiskies always bring something very special to the table. Not the peat fist of Islay, rather a peat glove. And straight bourbon aged Benriach always a treat.

Best peated Speyside whisky ever.
I've heard some people complain about peated Speysiders. I don't understand why. First, if you don't like a certain style of whisky, then the decent thing to do is to avoid bad mouthing it. I love just about ALL styles of whisky, and this 25yo is as close to heaven as you'll get. I recently took the plunge and picked one up on an auction site. HIGHLY recommended you do the same when you get the opportunity. This is sheer whisky heaven!!

NOT PEAT !!!
I love most things BenRiach apart from when they decide to go down the peated root because I can't belive in most instances or understand for that matter why on earth you would want to peat a beutaful Delacate SPAYSIDE whisky where peat should never be even contemplated to be used in. That should be left to the more northerly distilleries where they specialise in peat monsters because I can't stand the stuff unless it's in my gardens soil which is where it's natural home is of cause, and is where it should be left, to fertilise my flowers and NOT my whisky!.
