The small batch Kentucky straight bourbon honours the legacy of Meredith Basil Hayden, Sr., who back in the 1790s was known to use more rye in his mashbill than other distillers. (He's also the chap that Old Grand-Dad bourbon is named after.) Crafted by the great Booker Noe in 1992, Basil Hayden bourbon utilises a similar mashbill as its namesake would have used, with high rye but a lighter take on the style.
Cracked black pepper, rye, and oaky spice. Hints of green pepper, lemon peels, and creamy, zesty lemon curd.
Rice Krispies, toasted cereal progressing to popcorn with gentle marshmallow, custard cream sweetness.

I expect a better bourbon, i have disappointed It was not smooth despite most of the reviews mention "smooth"
Good+1, strong+1 and pure+1 bourbon. Smiled simple, smoothly drunk, there is spread of quick taste when shot or tip+2. Not enough complexity-1.
A unique light bourbon recommended to be drunk without ice. There is no long aftertaste that lingers so definitely a good choice for more than one round. Syper noble taste - twice as spicy and caramel. The bottle looks very nice and can be a great gift.
This is a very light and smooth bourbon that, on the sweeter palate, is very easy to drink. Long term whisky fans many find it less interesting. Recommended as a good cocktail spirit that avoids the need for additional sweeteners such as gimme syrup and vermouth. #freesample
