Robert Burns Single Malt Reviews

Really good

It has everything from beginning to end. Rich and complex, its only default is that it is addictive.

Robert Burns

Surprisingly complex, clearly put together with great care! Good casks, it shows.

25th September 2020

Let the bottle breathe for a coupe of months and you'll get the cleanest most concentrated rhubarb, pear, apple and lime you've ever smelled or tasted. Outstanding!

- Staple bottle for me.

Excellent buy

Fresh and crisp, agree with the bourbon nose comment - entices one to go to the next indulgence. Changes character as it lingers on the palate.

Happy Burns' Night!

Fresh bourbon on the nose, fresh wood sap and wood shavings. Kiwis, lime, lemon peels. Honey melon. Gooseberries. Rhubarb and green ferns. Sugary sweet. Vanilla pods. Thick yogurt note. Icing sugar.
Pears on the palate.

Altogether very woody and aromatic, very fresh and citrus y, very green, and certainly very delicious.
Reminds me of a Dailuaine.

A more than pleasant surprise!

Happy Burns' Night!

To give a definitive answer to the bickering below from a Whisky Ambassador of Scotland, it's worth noting that the Islands are not a recognised whisky region of Scotland and are classed as part of the Highlands.

Very good.

All the reviews are good except for one that calls this scotch overly petey and that review can be summarily dismissed. This is not a petey scotch. I’d take it 10 times out of ten over balvene (also a not petey scotch). In fact I think it’s the only not petey scotch I’ve gotten into. On my third or fourth bottle. But I’m sure that has something to do witty it’s price point. Lay the proud usurpers low indeed.

Extremely good

A bottle was given to me as a 70th birthday gift. I've had a number of whiskeys over the years - some exceedingly good and some blends that were reminiscent of slops left over. I can confirm this Robert Burns single malt is very good - with or without ice. I don't think this bottle will last any more than one week and it definatly will not last until Hogmanay in 8 days time

Loved it.

I had this and a few others in Scotland and it was my favorite.

Nice Single Malt

Im also from Pennsylvania and this is very well put together single malt at a very good blend price point. As mentioned, this is not a Highland, Arran is an island. I’ll buy it again.

24th May 2019

Definitely give it a try!

Brilliant single malt which I tried as a new product in our state-run liquor stores in Pennsylvania, USA. The price is very good for the quality of this product. By the way, "The worst of the bottom shelf" is clearly a pretentious wannabe snob who demonstrates his ignorance by referring to this product as a Highland single malt. Probably an American who doesn't know any better. My ancestors are from Kintail, Ross-shire which is in the Highlands. Cheers!

The worst of the bottom shelf

By far the single worst Highland single malt I've tasted. Overly peaty with a finish that's strong on leather and tobacco. I've seen other's getting fruity tastes out of this bottle and I don't see how. I'd rather pay the few extra dollars for a Glen Moray 12 year than drink this swill.

Under £35!!!!????

Funny enough I popped into the Whisky shop in St Paul's London on Burns night to purchase a nice dram for My Dad and I, that day they had 2 reps in from Arran Distillery showcasing some some of the collection, I was blown away with this...smooth honey and orange Tang with a chilli style warm heat follow on... To find out a whisky this good has come from the youngest distillery in Scotland blew me away..looking forward to the 25 plus editions to come!

Very pleasent

Another great whisky by the Arran. A very smooth whisky with a gentle bit of sweetness.

This poem is for a Whisky label. Disregard ©

It's the wee mice at Mosgiel,
that ate me out of house
and home.

Were it not for them, I’d
be farming still.

Ah, Dumfries with the jolly
beggar's and me the
excise man.

A taxing job to say the least,
chasing Tam O'Shanter
in the hills and down
Sweet Afton’s way.

Holy Willie's prayer gave
no forgiveness, but a
dram would set him free.

Good Value

Very strong alcohol fume, but the pear and custard palate are there. Factor in $27 CAD this is by far better than Dewar's or Ballantine's of the same price and head-to-head with Chivas 12 and JW Black.

15th September 2017

Great value

Great value whiskey! Chocolate taste!

13th September 2017

Single "Greatness"

So light and smooth that fulfills the taste buds succinctly.

11th January 2017

Amazing value.

One of my favorites. Understated yet complex. Price was unbelievable.

The taste of this great malt makes me feel like a military strategist , professor of medicine

14th December 2016

'O wad some Power the giftie gie us ......' And it has!

After many decades of drinking - with no apologies for that, this is certainly the finest single malt I have ever tasted.
The tasting notes by 'the chaps at Master of Malt' are concise, respectful of the nose and less than indulgent of the soft warmth and almost Pasteis de Nata (Portuguese Custard Tarts), caressing of the palette when this is presented to the taste buds properly, i.e.. with just a touch of water to open out the flavours.
10 out of ten every time. ..... and there have been many times since I discovered the team at Master of Malt. Thank you.

2nd December 2016

very good

Sharp beginning, followed by a smooth lingering after taste. I like it!

Mr Stuart Barber

Our neighbour brought over a bottle of of Robert Burns single malt he had purchased in Bordeaux for me to taste. I didn't know the brand but greatly enjoyed the tasting, A distinctive flavour although quite different to the malts of Islay, which I have enjoyed since holidaying there. Now another malt to add to my favourites.

First dram my wife likes

I got a bottle of Robert Burns as a Christmas present. Since I collect single malt whisky, I was awfully glad to get this new taste. My wife, who never liked whisky before, is sharing the bottle with me at the moment, be it with wee sips. Great dram, fresh and fruity. We both love the finish. Try it with a wee chunk of chocolate. It enforces the vanilla taste.

16th March 2013

Bottle of Gold

Simply on of the most enjoyable whisky’s I have ever tasted. Smooth, mild, and pleasant to the pallet. A wonderful addition to any party!!

24th August 2010
