New York Distilling Company 2 Year Old - Batch 1 (That Boutique-y Rye Company)
A terrific 2 year old rye from Brooklyn's New York Distillery Company, independently bottled by That Boutique-y Rye Company! NYDC TBRC, if you will. The distillery's co-founder Allen Katz is on the label, happily filling a big apple with rye in The Big Apple - a reference to this tipple being finished in an Applejack cask!
Batch 1 is a release of 600 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains, blended malts, blends and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic-novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Strong coffee, strawberries with cracked black pepper and touches of vegetal spice. Fizzy orange and a hint of Cognac develops.
Palate
Liquorice and tobacco. More orange notes, cumin, green apple and some juicy plum. Dark chocolate way later on the mid-palate.
Finish
Zesty and sweet - almost a bit Port-cask-finished-Scotch-esque!
