Reviews for Sailor Jerry 1.5l
One of the best with coke
I am an avid rum drinker but with a mixer (coke). SJ is hands down one of the best spiced runs out there. I’ve tried over 15 spiced rums and this and Chairman’s reserve are the best.

Listen to me - do not read the -1 star reviews
Sailor Jerry is hands down one of the best rums you can buy, is the most delicious rich mixer but what's even better is SJ can be drunk straight or on the rocks with insane pleasure and the perfect blend of sweet and smooth in one sip.
Imo the aroma and aftertaste has this lovely sensantional sneaky caramel or vanilla aftertaste which blows the top off any lower ranked rums (taking into account it's a spiced rum)
Do yourself a biiig favour and start by trying a standard sailor jerry and coke (or dry ginger ale!) and prepare for a swathe of classyness and deliciousness that is literally unparalleled when it come to rums to drink for a slow drink or quick ones 🙏🔥🙏🔥🙏🔥🙏🔥🙏❤❤❤❤❤🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌😘

Rich, smooth & delicious
Greetings.
Rum has never been in my spirits beverage. I went on the cheap with Capt. M..you know. The other day I went top shelf. Oh my! So delicious!!
Scotch is now #2. SJ will always be on my top shelf.
Thank you!

Not good
I tried this and was sorely disappointed after hearing people talk highly of its flavor. I found it to be harsh and the aftertaste was foul. I found it to be down in the ranks with Captain Morgan spiced and Kraken. I prefer Bacardi Oakheart for a spiced rum. This was just harsh...like a blend of molasses and paint thinner.

One of the best.
This is my go-to rum for parties and nights out; its best mixed but can be sipped neat or on the rocks if you want, although Kraken is better for this. I've tried Admiral Vernon's Old J, which imitates the old Sailor Jerry recipe that people so desperately miss, and it's good, but the new Sailor ain't so bad. Summed up, great for mixing, alright for sipping, and not as bad as people say.

From friends/family experience
Like the old recipe? Google "Admiral vernon Old J" as the name suggests it is made based on the original Sailor Jerries recipe and for roughly £20. Unsure whether or not it is available outside the UK but search around :) Enjoy!

Thanks to the yanks!!
The new recipe was created for the American market, much to the annoyance of every other country it seems. Don't bother buying this new version as you are better of with Morgans Spiced instead, it's much more palatable. However if you search on eBay you can still get the old recipe for around £70 for a 1.5ltr bottle - well worth it in my opinion as the "original" original recipe is the smoothest rum I have ever had the pleasure of drinking.
