William Kerr's
Made in Scotland by The Borders Distillery Hawick, in the first distillery in the Borders since 1837. William Kerr’s Borders Gin is a 100% handcrafted gin that was distilled in a Carter-Head still with a copper basket that suspends the botanicals (juniper, angelica, coriander, liquorice, cassia and more) in the vapour of the original spirit.
The Scottish gin was named after the accomplished botanist from Hawick who became a gardener at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew, London.
A creamy, floral nose with plenty of dried orange and coriander seed citrus, juniper and a prickle of baking spice.
A little liquorice and honeyed sweetness combines with herbaceous notes of cassia and coriander as well as some lemon peel.
Quite short and impressively delicate.
Has recently become my gin of choice. Delicious and refreshing with a slice of orange and a good tonic water. Also makes the heart of a really good classic martini - merely wave the vermouth in the general direction of your shaker.
A really good, well-balanced and distinctive gin, definitely not just another marketing story with a designer label on a quirky bottle. The barley base is really subtle and adds an extra warmth to the citrus and spice - tried it first with Fevertree Mediterranean, going back for more!
Delicious with tonic, how else would you drink gin? Tasty, full of juniper and orange, hope I get to taste this again soon.
This is a great Gin. You can really taste the difference. Lovely creaminess up front, followed by clean citrus flavours and finished with a liquoricy spiciness. The secret seems to be in the barley based spirit which is prepared and distilled 100% at The Borders Distillery. A real treat! Makes a super G&T, Gimlet, Gin Martini and yes, Negroni!
