Ho ho ho!

Or should that be “boo, boo, boo-urns”, because this is the last Super Wish of 2025 as part of my £750,000 festive giveaway

Before we get to the final showstopper, let me doff my heavily-embellished Phrygian cap to @tomthedrammer, who had their Christmas wish for last week’s Super Wish bottle – the stunning Craigellachie 37 Year Old – granted

Now, to this week’s excitement. It has to be something special to wrap it all up for the year. Port Ellen 35 Year Old 1983 Single Cask (Master of Malt). That definitely fits the bill! We know you love a bit of Port Ellen. I do too. This bottle is on a different level. This is the gold standard. Like if Alan Rickman and Bruce Willis came together to make a Christmas movie. With guns. And Plutarch quotes. Yes, we’re talking crème de la crème.

Serious stuff.

Meet the Super Wish: Port Ellen 35 Year Old 1983

This single malt whisky was distilled in 1983. That’s significant, because it was the final year that Port Ellen distillery fired its stills before closure, four decades of lost distillery status, and the creation of a true whisky legend.

Make no mistake, when Diageo announced they were reopening Port Ellen a few years back, it wasn’t all sat there waiting for them. The stills were all gone. The spirit safe was gone. Most of the buildings were gone! But in the intervening years whisky lovers had fallen in love with this Islay gem’s coastal, peaty, lemon sherbet and chamois leather character. Yet it was finite. Increasingly scarce and precious. A bit like this release of just 48 bottles! Each one a rare snapshot of this lost Islay giant’s prowess – aged for three and half decades, and thankfully bottled by those nice folk at Master of Malt.

£2,700-worth of dignified, coastal, smoky, mineral dream dram…

How to wish for #WhiskySanta’s Port Ellen 35 Year Old 1983 Single Cask Super Wish

If you don’t know how to make a Super Wish by now, I’m considering putting you on the naughty list. You’ve had more than a month of this, people. If you’re new, however, may I say a hello so jolly my belly shakes like a bowl of jelly. Here’s the skinny on how Super Wishes work:

The deadline is 23:59 GMT on Thursday 23 December. The final deadline of the year. I’m getting emotional. But I won’t cry.

Somebody’s wish will be granted Christmas Eve! The last winner of the season. Oh man, there they are. The tears are a coming…

I’ll also be granting other wishes daily right up until Christmas Eve too. Which means you shouldn’t stop! Believe!!! Now, if you’ll excuse me, my tears are made of sugar syrup and I won’t let them go to waste. It’s Old Fashioned time. It’s been a pleasure once again, good people.
