Greetings ladies and gents. It’s time for this week’s #MasterofCocktails – we’re doing a great little twist on a Wet Martini today – it’s a Ford Cocktail recipe. I first encountered this a year or two ago at Burger & Lobster, and managed to find a recipe last week on diffordsguide but couldn’t for the life of me find it again.
List of Ingredients
- 50ml of Old Tom Gin
- 25ml of Noilly Prat Original Dry
- 5ml of Bénédictine D.O.M. Liqueur
- A couple shakes of Regan’s Orange Bitters No. 6
- An Orange (garnish)
We’re going to start with 50ml of the superb Professor Cornelius Ampleforth Old Tom Gin.
That goes into a stirring glass, followed closely by 25ml Noilly Prat.
Then 5ml Bénédictine…
Finally a good couple of shakes of Regan’s Orange Bitters.
Sling some ice in and give it a good stir. Go for about half as long again as you’re inclined to.
Now Strain into a chilled Martini Glass:
Grab yourself an orange twist and do this with it:
Hang it on the edge of your glass. We’re not expressing it – the oil’s unnecessary for this drink.
Now Serve. The Ford Cocktail, I’m reliably informed:
Next Week’s Ingredients (yes it’s simple, but christ, is it important):
Next week, you’ll be needing these…
Campari Bitters, Soda Water and an Orange.
