A. D. Rattray Whisky
A D Rattray is an independent whisky bottler based in Ayrshire in South West Scotland. The company gets its name from its founder Andrew Dewar Rattray. Like many in the whisky business, he started as a general merchant importing wine as well as maturing and blending whisky. Following Rattray’s death in 1910, the business passed into the hands of the Walker and Morrison families but the brand died out.
It was resurrected in 2004 by Tim Morrison, who previously had been at Morrison Bowmore before the company was bought by Suntory. The current chairman is Stanley Walker Morrison. The company bottles single malts, has a whisky experience and shop at Kirkoswald, and the Morrison family recently opened the Clydeside Distillery in Glasgow which opened in 2017.
