Mortlach 1954 Bottling Note

Distilled at Mortlach in 1954 and aged for 54 years in sherry casks before bottling in 2008 for Gordon and MacPhail.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is refined and elegant. The mocchaccino notes are sublime, notes of wax and wood oils with feinty notes, little forays into herbal territory, returning somehow empty-handed, yet rewarded with absolute bravura. The nuttiness is dark and unctuous and mouth-filling. The palate is thick and full and compacted. Notes of creamy Madeira and stewed fruit, tropical tiki and pre-war Armagnac. The nutty notes return with piquant gusto. The finish is: Instantly gratifying yet it still shows higher, intricate tones.
