Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Old 1998 (cask 6374) - Provenance (Douglas Laing)
This Royal Lochnagar was bottled in the summer of 2010 by Provenance. Royal Lochnagar was allegedly the favourite whisky of Queen Victoria and the story would have it that she drank it cut with claret in what can only be described as an unholy cocktail. However, this whisky is great by itself or with a drop of water.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Banana and vanilla to begin with then a fruit bowl of aroma opens up the bouquet.
Palate
Grist and malt with citrus zest and almonds.
Finish
The light palate extends into an easy vanilla-fresh finish.
Overall
This is an easy drink that could be happily drunk prior to a meal.
