18 Year Old Whisky

Eighteen (18) Year Old Whisky must have rested in a wooden cask for a full eighteen years. If a single malt whisky is composed of more than one age of whisky, for example, an 18yo, a 25yo and a 40yo, the age statement on the bottle must be that of the youngest whisky in the malt - eighteen years old in the case given here.

18 year old whisky can be given as an 18th birthday present, a fathers day gift, or a Christmas Present.

Eighteen Year Old Whiskies are usually much more mellow and soft than those that have been matured for less time, the harsher notes having been mellowed out by the extended maturation process.

18 years ago - 1993 was a notable year for many reasons:

In 1993, Bill Clinton was elected 42nd President of the United States. We do not know if he drank whisky, but we certainly know he once said this: "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."

Sadly, in 1993, legendary rocker and oddball Frank Zappa passed away. His eclectic mix of styles and sounds makes for the perfect sonic accompaniment to a good glass of Scotch whisky.

Whisky would not have been used as refreshment by Miguel Indurain whilst he raced in the Tour de France which he won in 1993.
