50 Year Old Whisky

Fifty (50) Year Old Whisky is rather like the holy grail in whisky terms. So few Casks of whisky will reach 50 years old and still be drinkable as to be a tiny, tiny fraction of a percent. Several 50 year old whiskies retail for in excess of £5,000, and finding one for less than £1000 these days is somewhat of a rarity! 50 year old whisky casks will generally have lost between 60 and 80% to the angels’ share.

50 year old whisky is truly... unsurpassed as a gift for a 50th Birthday - make someone’s (half) century, and give them a bottle. Why not give a bottle of 50 year old whisky as a fathers day gift, or a Christmas present?

Fifty Year Old whisky is such a rarity, that only a few very fortunate people will ever sample its astonishing complexity.

1960 seems like a long time ago, here are a few reminders of some of the events from that year:

In May of 1960, whisky would not have been used to fuel the Sputnik 4 launch into Earth’s orbit.

In June of 1960, rock music and whisky fans everywhere would have toasted the birth of the incredible axe-man Steve Vai. He’d later write the classic, monster riff-laden Bad Horsie.

In 1960, the original Ocean’s 11 was released, it starred the whisky loving Rat Pack.
