Interesting fact… Hankey Bannister 40 Year Old whisky spells its name whisky as it originates in Scotland. Had it been produced in America its name would be Hankey Bannister 40 Year Old whiskey, instead of whisky.
Nose: Warm and sweet. Spiced chocolate mixed with mulled raisin hidden beneath.
Palate: Completely enrapturing, it has a buttery soft glow that sparks with spicy moments.
Finish: A twinkle of fruit lasts. And lasts. And lasts some more.
Nose: Starts quite shy, but not timid. It's quite fresh, not a lot of that very old wood you often get from 40 year old blends or malts, which i really like, but here that is replaced with a nice dose of chocolate, sultana and cherries, as well as ripe blood oranges. add some spices into the mix, and you've got a nice nose.
Palate: Oh yes, Hankey Bannister has arrived! this is a delicious palate we've got here, and that come as no surprise. Still quite fresh, without a lot of wood, but very declious and luxioouruis it is, for sure. starts creamy, then the orange and mandarine covered with quality chocolate enter and entertain your palate.
finish: Long, and rewarding, with chocolate, ripe mandarin, and a hint of grapefruit and nut and raisin chocolate.
quite delicious and so easy to drink a few drams, at this price, this is real danger! If you're into good whisky and you want to impress someone who's not into heavy wood influence, then this is your chance to make an impression. Sure it's not cheap, but for those who appreciate good blended whiskies, it may be just what's needed.
