Buffalo Trace (Old Bottling)

Buffalo Trace has become a staple sippin' whiskey for me. I keep a bottle handy in the office for those (occasional) days where you need something fine in your life. Smooth, sweet, smokey - delicious.

I was lucky enough to receive a bottle of Buffalo Trace as a 'thank you' for basic neighbourliness. This Bourbon previously 'foreign' to me, was excellent; delicious and refined. The gesture of this superb 'thank you' is far in excess of any kindness on my part. I'll be buying another bottle tomorrow. A recommendation as sincere as my contrite apology to Scotland.... Paul

I was given a bottle of buffalo trace for my birthday recently, and i have to say this is one of the best bourbons i have ever tasted, well worth buying a bottle, even if you don't drink it much, breaking the seal and leaving the bottle for a couple of months will only bring forward the sweet vanilla note. 10 out of 10

It was easy to see how good this was by how quickly the bottle went down over the Christmas period. A lovely smooth bourbon that makes you sorry for those still stuck on Jack Daniels.

Meant to rate it 5 Stars and was idling remembering how nice it was and forgot!

Im no whisky expert and bought the Yamazaki 18 as a punt due to its great reviews and the fact i had never tasted a JP whisky before.After tasting it i came to the conclusion that it was a very good whisky.First impressions were a rich floral sherry bouquet ,sweet, woody smooth/balanced/very rounded.After finishing it though i would probs not buy again due to its high price point.Well i have just bought a bottle of Buffalo Trace(old bottling) and after opening the bottle and pouring a glass and noticed instantly that this is similar to the bouquet of the Yamazaki 18 with its floral,honey,sherry aroma.Taste wise its very similar but with more burn and spice which probably is due to its higher ABV at 45% and spices added.This bourbon is just great and believe me if you liked the Yamazaki 18 its a no brainer.The Yamazaki 18 is smoother and more complex in all areas but for the price the Buffalo trace is a clear winner at 55 pounds for 1.75 L.
