Insider knowledge: Balblair 20 Year Old 1990 - Old Malt Cask (Douglas Laing) whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Scotland. If distilled in America the spelling would be Balblair 20 Year Old 1990 - Old Malt Cask (Douglas Laing) whiskey, as opposed to whisky.
Nose: Gingerbread, barley malt, manuka honey and baked apples on the nose.
Palate: A rich, spicy palate with black pepper, barley grist, stewed fruits and banana.
Finish: A long, spiced finish with grist and ginger on the tail.
This is what Mac wants to be - because it is not nearly so overly sherried..... a bit sweet than Mac - let it open up for a while (nothing wrong with air opening for an hour or so) - the 50% ABV won't be bad at all... ;-)
