Gin Martini Cocktail 2012 Bottling Note
Made using Premium Copper Pot-Still Gin, with just a splash of the very best dry vermouth, this Bottled Gin Martini has been expertly blended in ultra-small batches by those handsome devils at the Handmade Cocktail Company.
The concept of the ‘Vintage Cocktail’ range is simple – you get all the ingredients for a superb cocktail pre-mixed, all you have to do is pour it over ice, stir, then strain off into your glass and garnish (in this instance with a few olives or a twist of Lemon Peel). Each bottle carries a stamp showing its year of manufacture.
By pre-mixing the vermouth with the high-proof Gin, the danger of your martini being ruined by fusty or tired vermouth becomes a thing of the past. We’ve tried this cocktail after 6 months or so under glass, and it’s absolutely superb – in fact it beat a freshly-made version using the same ingredients by 6 votes to 1 in a blind taste test!
Nose: Subtle herbs including thyme and tarragon. A sophisticated juniper taste with just the right amount of earthiness. Some lemon sweetness.
Palate: Herbal dryness with the fresh clarity you expect from a good martini. The sweetness has dissipated into pleasant citric notes.
Finish: Clean, dry and smooth.
Nose: A perfect martini, best served with a twist.
