What's in a name? Zuidam Dutch Rye 5 Year Old whisky is called whisky because it's produced in The Netherlands. Were it from America it would be spelled Zuidam Dutch Rye 5 Year Old whiskey, rather than whisky.
This is an unusual rye, with little of the pepper and spice flavors typical of the US ryes. At first sip, it tastes a bit smokey, but that sensation went away as I drank more. I'm no Malt Master, so I won't be able to describe the range of flavors in this; I'll just say I enjoyed it, and I may even buy a bottle (I tried the 1 oz sample). Karl
