Ledaig 22 Year Old 1972 - Lost Bottlings Series (Master of Malt)
This is a very rare single malt from our Lost Bottlings Series - a range of whiskies bottled many years ago, offering whisky lovers the chance to try spirit from a bygone era. This is a Ledaig - a peated single malt from the Tobermory distillery on Mull. It was distilled in 1972 before a 22 year maturation, and it was bottled in October 1995.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Very subtle peat notes on the nose, with more than a hint of glacé cherries, redcurrant jelly and cassis. A little whisper of smoke.
Palate
Dried apricot alongside agave nectar, gentle peat smoke and soft spices. Red berries appear late palate, with a hint of granary toast.
Finish
Long, smoky finish with sooty malt, candy floss and dried banana chips.
Overall
A very interesting whisky indeed, with a curious mix of soft, though savoury peat smoke, and a barrage of fruit!
