Jim Murray's Whisky Bible
What's in a name? South Island 21 Year Old 1990 whisky is called whisky because it's produced in New Zealand. Were it from America it would be spelled South Island 21 Year Old 1990 whiskey, rather than whisky.
Nose: Rich, toasted oak. Quite tropical too, with a hint of coconut and guava. Floral.
Palate: Spicy, toasted palate. Creamy vanilla and barnyard. Dried grass, allspice. Malt.
Finish: Thick, malty finish. A dusting of spice on the tail.
