Talisker 25 2005 Bottling Note
Always a highly anticipated special release from Diageo, this 25 year old Talisker was released in 2005 at cask strength, part of an outturn of 15,600 bottles.
The nose is rich and pungent. There are thick notes of bitumen and tarry ropes followed by a butyric note, driftwood and Calvados. Salty butter and hot pastries with a coastal character. There are some bruised petal notes and thick oak. Herbal notes and ground almond with an earthen note. The palate is very full and firm. There is a touch of sweetness with a chewy peat and notes of smoke and fennel. There is a refined coastal character with a little toffee and peppery spices. The finish is long with a coastal character and a little sweetness with a peppery oaked note.
Lovely!
This is the greatest!
