A 40 year old from the Strathisla distillery, superb value for money, particularly for a malt of this age.
Strathisla 40 Tasting Note
The nose is rich and full. There are notes of sweet vanilla fudge with caramelised fruits and charred toasty oak with spice and gentle, cold wood smoke. Notes of toffee and dried fruits. The palate is quite full-bodied with exceptional balance. There are notes of smoked meats and wood smoke, winter fruitcake with spice and sherried walnuts and sultanas. There are hints of beeswax and apple blossom with dry oak. The finish is long and smoky with chewy toffee and oak.
