Interesting fact… Strathisla 1957 (Gordon and MacPhail) whisky spells its name whisky as it originates in Scotland. Had it been produced in America its name would be Strathisla 1957 (Gordon and MacPhail) whiskey, instead of whisky.
The nose is quite fruity with juicy esters. There are winter berries and rubbed peppermint leaves with eucalyptus oil and toasty wood spices. Some hints of beeswax emerge with a little liquorice note. The palate is quite full and rich. Notes of mixed peels and winter spice. Hints of star anise and dark sugar with a little sherry and a good plume of smoke. The finish is quite long and a touch sweet with a good oak.
