Port Dundas 1978 CD Bottling Note

Port Dundas is a renowned, and closed, Glaswegian distillery that produced excellent grain whisky from 1811 through to its closure in 2010. This bottling is a chance to taste some of this phenomenal whisky.

Grain whisky is becoming more and more popular as people become canny to its amazing value for money. By the nature of grain whisky it requires a lot longer in cask than malt whisky to make it palatable hence why they are usually bottled in excess of twenty years old, however they are also a lot cheaper to make - long story short you get old whisky at a better price!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Classic grain whisky vanilla notes with a slight beeswax character developing into clover honey in time.

Palate: Toffee and Bourbon woodiness underpinned by a big wedge of vanilla.

Finish: The woodspice kicks into a long finish with a suggestion of nutmeg, coffee and oak.

Overall: This is one of the great grain distilleries excellently presented. Vanilla, spice, beeswax and toffee to sum it up.
