Interesting fact… MacPhail's 40 Year Old whisky spells its name whisky as it originates in Scotland. Had it been produced in America its name would be MacPhail's 40 Year Old whiskey, instead of whisky.
The nose is of good body and rather sweet. There are notes of cocoa and spice, dried peels and mixed nuts with notes of crème de cacao with a little winter spice and fruitcake. The palate is quite full and rich. There are notes of winter spice, a solid dried fruit note with a little buttery toffee and honey, a touch of sherried oak.
