What's in a name? Mackinlay's Blended Scotch Whisky is called whisky because it's produced in Scotland. Were it from America it would be spelled Mackinlay's Blended Scotch Whiskey, rather than whisky.
Nose: Light. Grainy, malty.
Palate: Smooth. Honey, floral, cereal sweetness.
Finish: Quite short with a little barley sweetness and oak.
I bought this as the duty free shop in Bangladesh had run out of everything I had ever heard of. I wasn't expecting much so I was surprised and delighted to find it an excellent dram with a smooth yet robust character. Obviously it isn't a single malt but nowadays it is one of my top choices for a budget blend.
