Insider knowledge: Mackinlay's Blended Scotch Whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Scotland. If distilled in America the spelling would be Mackinlay's Blended Scotch Whiskey, as opposed to whisky.
Nose: Light. Grainy, malty.
Palate: Smooth. Honey, floral, cereal sweetness.
Finish: Quite short with a little barley sweetness and oak.
I bought this as the duty free shop in Bangladesh had run out of everything I had ever heard of. I wasn't expecting much so I was surprised and delighted to find it an excellent dram with a smooth yet robust character. Obviously it isn't a single malt but nowadays it is one of my top choices for a budget blend.
