Macallan 12 1998 Bottling Note
This was distilled at The Macallan distillery in 1998, and it was filled into bourbon barrels. It was then sourced by Murray McDavid, who took it over to Bruichladdich on Islay, where it was finished in none other than Chateau Petrus Pomerol wine casks! Incredible.
Nose: Sweet, sticky malt, with quince jelly, sloe berries, cherry liqueur, granary toast and cereals.
Palate: Blackberries on the nose, with notes of milky coffee, plums and damsons. Tangy and rich and very "red" tasting, if that makes any sense!
Finish: Good length, with vanilla latte, cocoa and raspberry jam on the finish.
