Jim Murray's Whisky Bible
What's in a name? Laphroaig 15 Year Old 1996 - Old Malt Cask (Douglas Laing) whisky is called whisky because it's produced in Scotland. Were it from America it would be spelled Laphroaig 15 Year Old 1996 - Old Malt Cask (Douglas Laing) whiskey, rather than whisky.
Nose: Smoky and rich, motor oil and salted, smoked almonds, plume and pepper.
Palate: Punchy and aniseed-rich, notes of lemon zest, black pepper and sticking plasters.
Finish: Long, peaty finish with lemon and caramel.
