The nose is full and rich with an astounding pungency. Layers of chocolate and juicy sultanas with a substratum of buttery sherried mixed peels and damson jam. The peat is dark and powerful and stalks the recesses with unremitting persuasion. The palate is gargantuan in depth. The peat has developed a chewy maltiness, the sherry is thicker and fuller with a creaminess and notes of espresso and Crème de Cacao emerge with an oily nuttiness and a coastal tang. The phenols are present, but with softened severely by the age, cask and a beautifully rich caramel note. The finish is long and robust.
