An utterly fabulous on-going annual release of Lagavulin, from Diageo's Special Releases. 2011 sees this cask strength monster offering up oodles of complexity thanks to its maturation in refill American oak casks.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Very smoky with bonfire toffee, cold wood ash, smoked game and treacle.

Palate: This is very tangy and takes me right back to my first visit to the distillery on a freezing cold day with the weather ferociously setting in. Oily and smoky, like a log fire in winter. Hints of cocoa develop.

Finish: Long and oily, ending on signature Lagavulin smokiness, Ovaltine, Cocoa and pear.

Overall: Delicious!

this is a must for a 12 year old scotch. I have been trying many different scotches for about 10 years it takes a number of years to appreciate a fine scotch such as this. Dont try this as your first or you will not know what this scotch has to offer!

well worth the wait

Ive had hold of one of these for some time now and my cupboard rotation has brought this around. Im not going to waste time with fancy comparissons to different types of food, all ill say is "stunning". This is simply one of the best whiskies ive ever had, from nose - right through to the finish. Hat doffing time. Sold out here, but i know a man with a dozen bottles, so ill be getting me some more!
