Whisky or Whiskey
Insider knowledge: Knockando 12 Year Old whisky is named whisky by virtue of the fact it's from Scotland. If distilled in America the spelling would be Knockando 12 Year Old whiskey, as opposed to whisky.
Knockando 12 Bottling Note
A delicate, sweet 12 year old single malt, unchallenging, yet rather charming. It was because of the Knockando distillery that Knockdhu began bottling their whiskies under the name anCnoc - for they deemed their names too similar and wanted to avoid confusion.

The nose is quite gentle and very fragrant. Notes of waxy manuka honey, hints of malty barley and roots with a touch of stemmy cut hay. There is a very supple, chewy peat lying quietly in the background. The palate is quite full with notes of heather roots and damp earth, notes of honeyed sweetness with Jamaica ginger cake, a touch of rum with malty peat. The finish is quite long with winter spice and crystallized stem ginger with cereal notes.
Knockando - my very favourite
Light yet flavoursome. I visited the distillery in the 1980's and was hooked. I've tried many. many others but always come back to Knockando - I love it. Difficult to find, Laphroaig, Balvenie Glenfiddich and more get shelf space at Tesco but Knockando is my favourite and I keep tracking it down.
knockando 12
not being a (regular) scotch drinker, I sampled 5 different single malts one night---this is the only one that made enough of an impression on me that I remembered the name--unfortunately, I can't find it here in Maine--have to settle for Talisker on those damp, cold days (Sherlock Holmes on the tube..) when I actually want a scotch
The Joy of Lifetime
I fell in love with Knockando when I was a wee lass, and have loved it all my life. Difficult to find on the East Coast of the US, it is nearly impossible to find on the West Coast - but well worth the time and effort of my yearly hunt!
hmm
Caught my eye when one bottle was left at Dan murphy's and it wasnt a common whisky to be find. became the eye opener when i realised it was on a reduced price of 67 AUD, came home opened it up and that honey just hit my nose so well, oh god almost creamy caramel honey with hints of spice here n there, and this weird kind of bitter note which i thought was vegetal, but reading ^ noticed probably its the gingerrr, quite the serendipity this one!!!
Two different noses!
Very strange this: bought a bottle a while back from Waitrose and it's one of my favourite malts: light, full of flavour, floral, delicious! Had another bottle of this via the Advent Calendar, and the nose was very strange indeed... Over-ripe bananas...! Jim Murray comments that the Knockando 12 has the most bizarre aroma... So maybe I got the same batch as he did first time around. The taste was the same though... Can't fault it!

Great whiskey , thought the name was a joke when I discovered it but the flavour is certainly no joke.

My wife who is from Duffotwn, got me a bottle for my Xmas. And I am very pleased she did. It is a lovely easy to drink whiskey, but quite strong. I was pleasantly surprised when I firstt ried it, full of flavour and will def warm you on a cold night :) Very very impressed.

:
Stunning .....
Well what can I say, a beautiful and truly enjoyable whiskey. Very smooth and goes down far too easilly. Most certainly one I shall purchase again in the future.
Just to note though, with the spelling of the name it should be pronounced "ni-can-doh" and not "no-can-doo"!!
(Translation using Google Translate: I expected more, too prominent alcohol and spoils the whole palette. Spicy - dried fruits, almonds, cinnamon, spices ... if not an alcohol ... Looks like Karaganmo 12, but Venriah 12 - white-red label better.)

Неплохо, но...может выдержки не хватает. Спирт правит бал.
(Translation using Google Translate: Not bad, but ... maybe speed is not enough. Alcohol reigns.)
