Scotch Whisky - Deluxe Blend - 2014
International Wine & Spirit Competition
Interesting fact… Islay Mist Deluxe whisky spells its name whisky as it originates in Scotland. Had it been produced in America its name would be Islay Mist Deluxe whiskey, instead of whisky.
Nose: Sweet, soft fudge, and all the inherent creaminess, slightly herbal.
Palate: Soft, creamy. Barley.
Finish: Spirity, oak.
For me, this blend is an ideal part of the following trinity: Islay Mist, Laphroaig 10 and Laphroaig 10 Cask Strenght. You start with a dram of Mist, the proceed to the Laph 10 and the finish with the Cask Strenght monster. This gives you a perfect ascending curve of voluptuosness of taste and length of aftertaste; everything grows more intense, the sea, the smoke, the peat, the iodine etc...all this being said, this blend is perfect on itsown as well, as an aperitif or digestif, whatever, perfectly clean and nicely done!
